چکیده

A double loop network G(n; $1, ~2) is a digraph with n nodes (0, 1, . , n 1) and 2n links of the form i + i + x1 (mod n) and i + i + s2 (mod n). A double loop network G(n; ~1, $2) is LFT if there is a Hamiltonian cycle in every G(n; ~1, ~2) e where e is any link in the network. Similarly, a double loop network G(n; ~1, ~2) is NE;T if there is a Hamiltonian cycle in every G(n; ~1, ~2) u where u is a node in the network. In this paper, we present necessary and sufficient conditions for LET and NFT double loop networks, respectively.

A Reconfiguration Algorithm for a Double-Loop Token-Ring Local Area Network

An algorithm to reconfigure a fault-tolerant double-loop token-ring local area network following topological changes is presented. The algorithm guarantees that at all operational times the network is organized to provide maximum possible connectivity among the nodes either one loop that encompasses all nodes in the network or several subloops each of which operates as a separate token ring net...

Optimal k-Fault-Tolerant Networks for Token Rings

Fault-tolerant multiprocessors are widely used in on-line transaction processing. Fault tolerance is also desirable in massively parallel systems that have a relatively high failure probability. Two types of failures in a multiprocessor system are of interest, processor failures and link failures. Most of the previous research in designing optimal fault-tolerant topologies was concentrated on t...

Fault-tolerant Real-Time Communication in FDDI-Based Networks

U sers are increasingly deploying high-speed networks in distributed computer systems. These networks may have stringent real-time and fault-tolerance requirements. FDDI (fiber distributed data interface) 1 is a 100-Mbps local area network based on a token ring media access control protocol defined by ANSI and OSI standards. It has built-in provisions for fault-tolerance and real-time communica...

A Case-Study in Component-Based Mechanical Verification of Fault-Tolerant Programs1 To appear in Fourth Workshop on Self-Stabilization (WSS’99) Austin, Texas, USA

In this paper, we present a case study to demonstrate that the decomposition of a fault-tolerant program into its components is useful in its mechanical verification. More specifically, we discuss our experience in using the theorem prover PVS to verify Dijkstra’s token ring program in a component-based manner. We also demonstrate the advantages of component based mechanical verification.
